Gary went to MIT and received his PH.D. in Physics from the University of Michigan. He learned Smalltalk from Ward Cunningham, with whom he worked for several years in Portland. Currently Gary develops mathematical software in Java as a Financial Engineer with Calypso Technology, Inc., in San Francisco, CA.
